How do you make a hydrating mask at home?
The protagonist of these recipes is pumpkin. With its warm colors, pumpkin is rich in beta-carotene (vitamin A) but also in antioxidants that act as anti-aging allies.
In all the recipes, I have used pumpkin as a puree. I cut the pumpkin into pieces and steamed it so as not to lose its nutrients. Alternatively, you can boil it in a saucepan. Let’s start immediately with the first recipe!
4 DIY natural face masks recipes with pumpkin
DIY natural face mask for dry skin
For dry skin, HYDRATION is the keyword. To nourish and moisturize the skin, using the right mix of ingredients is essential. For this mask, I used olive oil and honey to deeply nourish the face giving it brightness and elasticity.
To create it we will need:
Once all the ingredients have been mixed, all that remains is to apply them to a dry, clean face. Leave to act for 5-10 minutes and rinse with plenty of warm water.
DIY natural face mask for oily skin
For oily skin I have thought of the following mix of ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons of pumpkin puree
- 1 tablespoon green clay (Bentonite)
- 1 teaspoon of honey
Bentonite is clay with excellent absorbent properties and therefore suitable for oily skins with excessive sebum production. It also has excellent purifying properties that help reduce imperfections such as blackheads and pimples. Together with the properties of honey and pumpkin, this mask will help to revitalize and brighten our face.
DIY natural face mask for sensitive skin
Sensitive skin needs delicate ingredients that do not irritate it and at the same time moisturize and protect it. For this type of skin, I have thought of easily available ingredients that can act gently on the skin. To make it we will use:
- 2 tablespoons of pumpkin puree
- 1/2 crushed banana
- 2 tablespoons of rice water (possibly Jasmine or Basmati)
Preparing rice water is very simple. Just boil some rice (Jasmine or Basmati) and collect the boiling water from the rice in a container. When it has cooled down we can add it to the other ingredients and apply on our cleaned skin face
DIY natural face mask for normal skin
For this last mask we will add two more ingredients to the pumpkin puree:
- 2 spoons of pumpkin puree
- 1 tablespoon of white clay (kaolin)
- 2 teaspoons of aloe vera
Kaolin is a very delicate clay and is great for all skin types. It has an excellent purifying property and is able to cleanse the face in-depth. Aloe vera gel moisturizes and nourishes the skin but also has other benefits that make it a TOP ingredient. In this post, I described 7 applications of aloe vera gel for skin and hair exploiting its properties.
